Abdij van Nijvel

Nivelles Abbey was founded in 640 by the Pippinid family and grew into a powerful convent of Benedictine nuns before its suppression during the French Revolution. Its former abbey church, the Romanesque Sint-Gertrudiskerk, now serves as the town's parish church.
