De Rat

De Rat is an octagonal smock mill in IJlst that was originally built in the seventeenth century in the Zaanstreek before being moved to IJlst in 1828. It worked by wind and later by electric motor until 1950, was bought by the town in 1956, and was restored to full working order over the following decades.
