Beth Haim

Beth Haim, in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel just south of Amsterdam, is the oldest Jewish cemetery in the Netherlands. Around 28,000 members of the Portuguese-Israelite community are buried here, many beneath weathered sandstone tombstones scattered among the trees. Its quiet, centuries-old atmosphere makes it a popular subject for evocative photography.
