Description

Kasteel Oud-Poelgeest in Oegstgeest, northwest of Leiden, originated shortly after 1300 as a fortified house and took on its present form around 1640. The estate, covering more than ten hectares, was once home to the renowned Leiden scholar Herman Boerhaave, who planted a herb garden there in the early 18th century.
